WATER HUMANITY SWIMMING LIFE SPORT FAIRNESS?
Simple swimming, but where can you swim these days?
forget about indoor pools for a moment
what of swimming free in the rivers, lakes,
oceans from which we came?
I am all for saving swimming baths and facilities
In the urban environment
From the deadudley hidden hands of urban redevelopment
And private sector movements,
But, and, we swimmers should not loose
sight of a future world environment
that is glaciated with access to clean Water,
Water to drink, Water to wash and Water to
Swim in.
Water full of nutrients and life,
a biological swimming facilitiy –
a reproductive and REAL lagoon with real fish and corals?
Plants and a living ecosystem.
In varying scales of magnitude,
humanity can realise this paradise using
the ancient models of Chinese, Indian, Greek
and Roman use of waterways for social functions.
I compose verse and prose about swimming
in the canal, or the cut (as we call it)
in and around the Black Country,
the river Stour, in jest at first.
Years pass and i realize that our water ways
are our life lines, both biological and man-made
water ways, water works and water
bathing facilities seem critical for social activity
in the community.
the list of benefits from swimming are endless
and the competition is good for excellence
Oh, but what of that so contorted and abused term:
sport?
The fair and sporting activity of sport,
The sportsmanship of playing a fair game,
A good game, a sporting game
in which you dedicated
everything you have
gave it your all...the sacrifice
of time and energy.
Opposed to SPORT the name tag
of some minister
or a section of the most unsporting of entities:
the tabloid NEWSPAPER
or a sports magazine, a T.V station
help.
Yes, we like good competition and a good game,
the spirit of play lies at the heart of
healthy economic strategy,
philosophy and some poetry,
and all music, sing a song with activities
widely known as popular sports.
I feel the immersive environment
of the given activity drying up,
no lagoon, no wetness,
not even a foot bath
just a slightly soggy idea about how to distribute
the survival tickets
that will buy the means to
make and break
the rules for a few of the elite authorities
in whatever water-world we’re floating in.
So maybe forget about saving
the old swimming baths of England,
start planning your own swimming bath
and swimming facility.
imagine them, a fresh natural water-world paradise,
imagengine them
Draw, sculpt and sew them, present the
model environment,
animate big and large and share your work
in the streets.
Paint our new utopias and write
our dreams and footnotes to the image
the Art game can capture sport
in a way the news game cannot, i rekon.
The music game captures hearts
in a way writing dreams of
together we stir the components up
show HOW TO.
cast your visions
for a new past present future

Michael Phelps' and the GOLDEN BONG
It seems world record breaking atheletes like to get high! Respect to Mr. Phelps, and shame on the media vultures, moralists and propagandists who thrust an individuals private interests into the shitsphere of the news spinners. I think Phelps should keep his psition and work with the pro-marijuana groups to forward the American anti-prohibition movement and bring the big sponsors on board. Michael is welcome to come and blaze with me in Amsterdam anytime. Just email flyagaric23@googlemail.com
Go on, dive in.

Like Most 23-Year-Olds, Phelps Smokes Weed
Monday, February 02, 2009

The rampant hypocrisy about marijuana use in this country, and seemingly the world over, never ceases to amaze me. My generation was raised by parents who came of age in the 1960’s, when pot use first became common amongst young people, and the generation that is now in its 20’s grew up with parents who came of age in the 70’s. The 70’s! In the 70’s, smoking pot was taking it easy after a long night of tooting it up at the disco. I mean, does anyone out there who is old enough to remember the 70’s ... actually remember the 70’s? No. You know why? Cause they were high. -- like_most_23-year-olds,_phelps_smokes_weed
"Michael Phelps' Image Takes a Hit After Marijuana Photo Surfaces
Monday, February 02, 2009
By Joshua Rhett Miller
Aug. 17, 2008: Michael Phelps displays his eighth gold medal after the men's 4x100-meter medley relay final at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Michael Phelps took a big hit — and now his wallet could take a big hit, too.
A photo of Phelps smoking marijuana out of a bong at a party in November has brought his endorsement career to a crossroads, marketing experts say. And the megabucks that were flowing in could soon go down the drain unless America's superstar swimmer, who won a record eight gold medals at the 2008 Olympic Games, changes his ways.
"It's certainly not good and it’s a disaster in terms of the near future," said Robert Tuchman, president of Premiere Corporate Events, a sports entertainment firm. "He's very unlikely to have new sponsors come on board and endorse him. And there's the potential for other sponsors to pull the plug on him, using this is an opportunity. He's going to take a big hit on this."

"Key sponsors back Phelps after marijuana photo
By ROB HARRIS
MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Two of Michael Phelps' leading sponsors expressed support for the Olympic great Monday, a day after he apologized for being photographed in a British newspaper inhaling from a marijuana pipe. Luxury Swiss watchmaker Omega termed Phelps' actions a private matter and "nonissue." Swim wear manufacturer Speedo called the 23-year-old American a "valued member of the Speedo team." -- http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iSNSkEqTfEwLtGUKqGt4O_9zbY2gD963LEP80
"IOC accepts Phelps' apology for marijuana photo
LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — The International Olympic Committee expressed confidence Monday that Michael Phelps will learn from his "inappropriate behavior" and continue to serve as a role model after a British newspaper published a photo of him inhaling from a marijuana pipe.
Phelps, who won a record eight gold medals at last year's Beijing Olympics, apologized and acknowledged "regrettable behavior" after the picture was published Sunday by the tabloid News of the World. - googlenews

SAVE SWIMMING (a poem) 7th December 2005.
SAVE SWIMMING!
--Swimming to the tenth lock. by Steven Pratt
The decision to close the baths is in direct conflict with advice from Sport England, whose survey proved that Dudley as a whole has poor provision of sporting water space. Our club swimmers and juniors have great prospects for achievement in 2012, - http://www.parliament.the-stationery-office.co.uk
Swimming knows no grammar,
Paddling a verb; action--infinite flux of process.
Splashing to guard our swimming life!
Running finngers through a complex liquid media,
Flames and two words swim from my mouth:
Swimmajic edutainment.
Like the sudden up-blaze of fountains
Youth sprouts with harmony in water,
I learn't Swimming from pink dolphins.
In the womb i did the backstroke.
Where else can you immitate frog-kick or
Beautiful butterflie strokes with a simultaneous dollfinn kick?
The Midland District championship sponsored by Esso;
Swimming through oil, i don't think slow. Guess so?
Human moves as porpoise, hydrodynamically
You see swimmming around the blackcountry canal grooves
I picked up a slime-like scent of the transitive smells from
Industry and poverty slushing about together. Still.
Black Country cheer no matter the weather.
Times are always hard as nails around these stolen parts
Not much spacetime for music, poetry and Heart,
Most generally speaking this damn near whole wreakin
Belongs to corporate capitalist old farts. Listen up
Nuckle down, think for yourselves and start speaking.
Your mind underwater attenuates itself naturally
To local enviroment, Swimming should be guarded
And protected against injustice, misrepresentations
And exploitation by governments.
Ever thought of sport for all?
Free swimming facilities for every man,
Women and child on the planet?
Just do it! Feed and cloth the world, help some of the others!
My name and signature have not matured since the last time i wrote
Yet Today i swim like a boat, afloat i write
Swimming not winning to save us from a tidal wave of tree-paper.
Black Country revolution in the minds of the people.
Swimming is action. Speaks for itself. Fluidhydrodynamics.
Swimming is metaphor, illuminated by the structure of its language
Soaking wet facts, springboard statistics - tumble turnovers
Almost naked with nothing to hide. Easy glide past tiny bubbles
Troubles melting, everchanging. Swimming is a new language.
Swimming has meaning, its etymology is constantly visible
And in touch with the entire skin-suface, at all times.
It retains the creative impulse and process, visible and at work.
Swimming like a fish, in scales called meters or sometimes yards.
Feet?
Seven leg beats to one breath
Gasping for oxygen, again
Seven kicks from each flipper
No gills, must breath oxygen
Swimming for liquid fitness
Seven propelling swishes
Pushing, pulling hydrogen,
Swimming is hard to swallow.
""Is" comes from the Aryan root as, to breathe.
"Be" is from bhu, to grow."
It seems likely to me that General public facilities
Are shutting down because the tyranny of mediaeval logic
Has turned our thought into bright Lego bricks.
Underwater everything changes due to atmospheric changes.
Leisure swimming, free and easy basking
Times are great in the Black country
Leisure time and a leisure calendar enforced by the
Leisure center between the eye socket.
Rigorous exorcise for lung-bags and deep breathing apparatus
Legs, arms, neck, feet and torso too.
Mind body spirit submerged with the other,
Blood pumping and circulating; nutrition for the chakra leisure
Centers. Swimming for immortality, the final secret,
Take of your cloths and jump in. NO DIVING.
No running, no petting, no bombing, no pushing, NO PARKING!
Life savers barking for health and safety reasons:
No embezzling, no insider-trading, no cheating, No smoking.
Double standards and double speak cannot touch me, my
Swimming troubles drowned, washed away with each stroke,
Pushing from the past, pulling into the future
With each stroke i visualize Chinese written characters.

--Swimming to the tenth lock. by Steven Pratt
"The forces which produce the branch-angles of an oak lay potent in the acorn. Similar lines of resistance, half curbing the out-pressing vitalities, govern the branching of rivers and of nations. Thus a nerve, a wire, a roadway, and a clearing-house are only varying channels which communication forces for itself. This is more than analogy, it is identity of structure. --Ernest Fenollosa.
